I first came across the work of Amelia Jane Smith a.k.a ‘a girl wanting wings’ through my cousin. She is a talented fine artist/designer/illustrator whose work never fails to delight. She has recently launched her site whimsy ( a fitting name) which showcases a selection of her illustration and jewelery design. Her drawings capture the magical world of childhood, replete with monsters, dragons and robots, in a delicate linear style. Amelia is in the process of creating a childrens book and if her drawings are anything to go by it looks like its going to be a winner.
I am a big fan of her jewelery line which features a number of perspex earrings and brooches (hearts, birds, watering cans and many other beautiful things). My personal favourite are her white sailing ship earrings.I couldn’t resist getting them and I really happy I did (see below)
