White christmas

I came across these little beauties on Design Sponge. They are porcelain plates that have been sandblasted in such a way that a small vignette of a snow scene comes into view as if through drips of melted snow flakes. The Brooklyn based artist/designer is Cat Merrick. She seems to be a relatively new on the scene as her portfolio is not extensive, but I’m excited to see what else she has to offer in the future.

These are beautiful, the pictures (ot maybe just the blue) make me think of them as an updated version of The Willow Pattern ceramics http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willow_pattern

I think it must be the blue and white colour scheme and the detailed pattern. I love Willow Pattern stuff. My friend has a ring made from a broken Willow Pattern teacup inset into a silver band. Its so beautiful.
