Whit Spring RTW 2014

New York Fashion Week is in full swing and as per usual, there are some amazing collections being shown. I’ve decided that instead of doing a bumper edition of all the collections I would highlight the ones that I like in more detail over the coming week. Here goes…

For being a part of the CFDA Fashion Incubator program, Whitney Pozgay (the designer behind the label Whit) got the chance to travel to a destination of her choice for an CFDA-funded week-long inspiration trip. She chose the tropical paradise – Bali. Whit’s Spring Ready-to-Wear Collection reflects her experience of visiting the lush Bali landscape. I really love the collection, I would wear almost every piece in it.

“A sarong-friendly, tropical ease permeated, although Pozgay did incorporate the graphic angularity of the country’s temples into the silhouette. Nipped high waists, cutouts, and subtle pleats at the top of wide-leg pants provided structure, but the prints made the pieces pop. Pozgay paired a traditional batik pattern, cleaned up and sharpened, with her take on a ceremonial gingham check she saw wrapped around holy trees and statues while temple-hopping.”
