Shell House

Drawing inspiration from the fluid structure of a conch shell architect Kotaro Ide conceived the shell house. The vacation house is located in the Karuizawa forest in Japan. Ide used durable concrete to create two elliptical shell forms in a seemingly continuous j-shape that integrates the different areas of the house. Its such an interesting structure. I can imagine it featuring in a Haruki Murakami novel. I think his characters would be quite happy there.
