Billy Monk

Photographer Billy Monk (1937-1982) worked as a bouncer at Les Catacombs Club in Cape Town during the late 1960’s. During his time there, he photographed its inhabitants using his Pentax and a 35mm lens.

Nighclub Photographs, which is opening today at the Brodie/Stevenson gallery in Johannesburg, is a selection of 47 of these photographs.
