Maricor/Maricar

Maricor and Maricar Manalo are twin sisters and the talented brains behind Maricor/Maricar, a multimedia design studio specialising in hand embroidered illustration and lettering for publishing and advertising. Their needlework is bright, intricate and at times painterly. In short, it’s a marvel to look at.

Maricor and Maricar were born in the Philippines, but moved over to Sydney when they were two. They both graduated with a Visual Communications degree from the University of Technology Sydney. Later on they formed Maricor/Maricar, their first project being an embroidered music video for Architecture in Helsinki’s song “Like It Or Not”. They have since worked for a number of prestigious publications and won the British Council Australia Realise Your Dream Award in 2010 and the Art Directors Club: Young Gun award in 2012.

If you want to get your hands on one of their embroidered pieces or a print head over to their online store. Here is some more beautiful work by this talented twosome.
